Louise Gray Spring 2013 Runway Review

Scottish born designer Louise Gray completed an Ma at the prestigious Central Saint Martins in London and is also a recipient of the Fashion Forward Scheme which ensures that emerging designers receive enough sponsorship to be able to showcase their work during fashion week for two seasons. Like many other designers supported by the scheme, Gray also has her own clothing and makeup line at the high-street retailer Topshop. A ticket to her show is what everybody wants at the moment.

Gray’s S/S13 catwalk show took place at Topshop’s own fashion week show space which encompasses the whole of Bedford Square gardens in London. Famous faces in her front row included blogger Susie Bubble and fashion designer Henry Holland. The show’s fast paced and upbeat music set the tone for the range of bold and creative outfits.

Her collection was a psychedelic mix of colors and geometric prints served up in a mélange of different kinds of fabrics. It's possible that there was some kind of Japanese inspiration as some of the looks were Tokyo city styles. The accessories were also just as bold with graphic tights, oversized geometric earrings, necklaces, and rings.

Gray dares to be completely innovative, which is why so many people are inspired by her collections. She’s a designer with a positive career trajectory, so expect big things from this talented lady.
