Roberto Cavalli Spring 2013 Runway Review

At the Just Cavalli show earlier this week, we started to get a sense of a lighter Roberto Cavalli and that feeling definitely carried over to his mainline collection. The signature Cavalli woman has fallen out of fashion in the past few years but this breezy and beautifully crafted collection is set to spark a change in the Cavalli customer. One of the biggest trends to come out of Milan this week was white, with many designers, including Cavalli, starting their shows with an all-white run. Following with dramatic embellishments and embroidery, the marks of a Cavalli collection were there but instead of garish prints with clashing colors, the treatments were applied to a largely monochrome collection that was peppered with hits of blush, green, yellow, and orange. There's no denying that it was Cavalli (hello, slashed leather trousers?) but this collection has real editorial and red carpet potential so we can look forward to seeing these on the starlets of young Hollywood in the months to come.
