PPQ Fall 2013 Runway Review

I loved a bright yellow moto sweater with black accents paired with super tight, super colorful graphic graffiti print pants. The print was a theme of the collection and will be easily recognizable on the streets. With lots of minis, halters and cut-out shoulders, it was hard to remember this was a fall collection, especially in the array of pinks and yellows on display. The color palette was definitely perky and Barbie-esque — as was some of the cleavage.

If you were a fan of the bubble-hem skirt, it’s back and even more fabulous — read: voluminous. There’s definitely some newspaper stuffed up in there.

There were some misses that sort of looked like something from a Frederick’s of Hollywood catalog — a marabou mini paired with a bright blue chiffon halter with off-the shoulder straps comes to mind. The way elements of the print were incorporated onto all-black pieces in the form of applique didn’t work nearly as well as the all-over print. The black section seemed to be from a different collection, except for all the ubiquitous off-the-shoulder straps. The eveningwear wasn’t as successful as the daywear. It reminded me a bit of a Countess Olenska gone wrong.

An uneven collection, there were definitely some covetable pieces I hope to see on the street.
