Christopher Kane Fall 2013 Runway Review

In case there was any doubt as to whether there was drama surrounding Christopher Kane's (unfortunate) departure at Versus, Donatella Versace was seated front row at his show. And, given that PPR bought a majority stake in Kane's label back in January, it was a marathon with about 60 looks.

In keeping with a trend we've been seeing in London thus far, there was a warrior quality to many of the tough-luxe pieces the designer showed — some of which were fashioned in camouflage prints and finished with harnesses, others were made with armor-like embroidered swirls. Silhouettes were both fitted and relaxed (in the case of the designer's very wide-leg pants, too relaxed) and Kane also revisited some of his label's signatures including kilt-like closures and velvet dresses with lace trim.
