Maison Martin Margiela Fall 2013 Runway Review

There's a strong case to be made for Maison Martin Margiela to focus on its diffusion line MM6 and its home collection because both consistently prove stronger than the brand's namesake line. While this season brought the brand's signature quirk — namely oversized pants, shirts and cuffs with bright brushstrokes painted on them — they weren't so absurd that you wouldn't conceivably be able to wear them in real life…whether or not that's in good taste is a question that buyers will have to decide.

Baggy suiting aside, there were oddly patchworked floor length dresses and layered fishnets, wool and sheer panel looks. More successful were the collection's menswear-inspired pinstriped long vest and top and paneled outerwear.
