News & Runway

The New York fashion industry is still recuperating from running around from place to place to catch shows this past week (could there have been more shows not at the tents this season?) but already London Fashion Week has begun with Paul Costelloe’s Spring 2009 collection this past Sunday, September 14th .

The AP is reporting that London Fashion Week is in danger given that New York Fashion Week, which is one of the few fashion weeks that’s actually a week-long (make that nine days since many big name designers showed before September 5th when New York Fashion Week officially began), want to cut London Fashion Week from six days to four so that designers showing in NYC have more time to prepare their Spring collections.

However, London Fashion Week is immediately followed by Milan Fashion Week.

London, at least for now, is refusing the cut in fear that their big name designers such as Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood will opt for Milan over London.

While the future of London Fashion Week is still TBD, everyone is surely looking forward to some of this season’s highly anticipated collections which, besides McCartney and Westwood, include Christopher Kane, Issa, Nicole Fahri, Temperley London, Paul Smith, and House of Holland.
