News & Runway

From the obi-style belts to the vibrant prints, uber-high platform shoes, and geisha-like hairdos, it was clear that for their Spring 2009 Basso & Brooke collection, Bruno Basso and Christopher Brooke were inspired by Japan.

The duo are, of course, master printmakers and that was on full display.

Unlike so many other designers who mixed and matched prints to horrific results this season, Basso & Brooke managed to do so without it looking like a jumbled mess.

Best of all, in between some of the eye-catching, loud prints, there were some gorgeous solids like a textured red silk shift dress with wide arms, cinched with an obi-like belt, creating a beautiful silhouette.

The collection was impeccably styled with everything from the hair to the uber-glam, sky-high, platform shoes, to the stacked bangles, cuffs, and colorfully bold necklaces shown on some of the models flowing together flawlessly.
