BJORK & MCELIGOTT SPRING 2009

Article excerpted from thefashionisto.com

“This season the collection has been based upon an imagined summer, one dreamed up whilst confined to a rainy country where the sun is shy and the sky stays dark. Its magical elements are playful and push ideas of what we accept as good taste. The dreamy Hawaii/batik fabrics and brightly dyed silks conflict with the dark origami leather that are aggressively sewn over bright stretch fabrics and jovial coloured denims. The references stretch from Indian pyjama stripes to West African prints, bright metal embellishment and exotic leather flowers adorned with colourful shells. An imagined paradise rich with life; a destination longed for but impossible to reach. This S/S 09 Bjork & McElligott present a wonder world punctuated with elements of cynicism and darkness, an underlying frustration of unrealized dreams.”
