The pre-show excitement reached a fiery high at Charlotte Ronson when Lindsay Lohan came and joined her girlfriend Samantha Ronson — who was providing the tunes for the show — in the DJ area. After all the photographers got their Lindsay snaps, the show began.
The collection had a decidedly 80’s feel (think – sweater dresses), mixed with a touch of punk (an abundance of zipper detailing, fringe, and leather). Ronson also seemed to be inspired by military officers with many of the looks taking on a very tailored silhouette with officer-like adornments – of note a black hammered silk officer shirt with gold hoop detail and a matching skirt that were paired with red patent leather lace-up high heels.
There were a number of looks that focused attention on the models’ shoulders either through billowing, structured emphasis on them or via underarm cut-outs. As for the color palette it was heavy on black – played-up by the styling which had the models in black lipstick and sleek ponytails — with prints and plaids mixed in.
Ronson’s most successful looks were those that were devoid of prints, plaids, and patchwork and focused on clean lines, structured silhouettes, and on the carefully crafted zipper, and cut-out details. Particular stand-outs were a black hammered silk dress with gold hoop details and lower back cut-out; a black zipper coat with a black knit skirt and matching sweater underneath; a short blazer with leather detail over a black paisley-lace mock neck jumpsuit, and leather pants with fringe detailing in the back.
Not to be missed was Ronson’s sister, Annabelle, who modeled a cardigan with leather chain detail over a feminine paisley-lace jumpsuit and a leather bustier pencil skirt paired with black suede peep toe booties, to a round of applause.
