News & Runway

The sound of factory cranks and levers, mixed with exerts from childhood instrumental music classics, such as “Peter and the Wolf”, conjured up ideas of a fairytale toy factory that rolled out live dolls – queue the models marching out onto the runway at Erin Fetherston’s F/W 09 presentation.

When attending an Erin Fetherston fashion show, check your cynicism at the door and allow yourself to enter another world.  One could almost liken it to that of the Lost Boys in Neverland, except, in place of boys, it’s the girls that forever remain young at heart, never losing their sense of playfulness and wonderment.

In shades of raspberry sorbet, pale lilac, black and white, the models marched down the runway in silk blouses with lace joint panels, blouson sleeves, and oversized collars; skirts were a strong statement, from styles with rigid crinolines to billowing layers of silk chiffon.

Pretty, playful cocktail dresses came in a myriad of colors, fitted cropped jackets and tank blouses with crystal encrusted bows made appearances and striped novelty tights and Polka dots in all shapes and sizes as well as bows a plenty (a Fetherston signature) were present on many looks.

Standout styles included a Swaroski crystal encrusted black charmeuse petal dress, a prima ballerina-esque chiffon gathered dress in lilac, and the closing look, a white dress with a fitted bodice and multi-tiered skirt.

All in all, Fetherston stuck to what she does best, and presented a cohesive collection of playful, girly garments, that created a happy world where everyday is sunshine and polka dots.
