News & Runway

Donna Karan may well be my favorite designer. She has the ability to make the most intricate garments look wonderfully simple and an eye for gorgeous bold baubles – which she’s often seen sporting herself. In fact, I imagine Donna Karan could wear a good chunk of the collection she showed this season, as well.

For Fall/Winter 2009 Donna Karan delivered with beautifully draped jersey gowns, exaggerated shoulders – a trend which she helped pioneer in the eighties – done in a variety of ways, over-sized collars, stud-accents, lean trousers and skirts, and notably nearly every look was cinched at the waist with a belt and paired with a  gorgeous statement necklace by Robert Lee Morris.

This was a collection where Karan truly did what she does best – she showed timeless investment pieces that will surely be recession-proof.
