This season marked Narciso Rodriguez’ first show in the tents since 2005 and what an incredible return it was.

Those expecting nothing more than a series of First Lady Michelle Obama-appropriate looks were sorely wrong with neons (highlighter yellow, highlighter pink, ultra purple), cut-outs (chest and back area), avant-garde hats that came down to just under the models eyes with slits so they could see (think Batman meets a cloche hat, meets a helmet), and camouflage lace spicing things up between the more classic looks (khaki wool twill coats and jackets, silk crepe dresses).

Many of the elements that popped-up in the show we’ve already seen at a number of others this season, but unlike many designers who showed 80’s-insprired neons and cut-outs that looked too retro to be wearable, Rodriguez’ looks – most of which were ultra body-conscious – were wholly modern and at times, with their subtle detailing and geometric touches, even futuristic.
