News & Runway

The bathing suits, which Azrouel added to his accessories offering in the Spring of 2009, were particularly eye-catching with their extra straps and bold cut-outs. The collection’s silhouettes were a mix of fluid drapes and sharp tailoring with geometric sculpted details. Particularly noteworthy was a heather gray raw drape belted gown which a had delicate ballooning ruching effect in the back, and the designer’s optic enzyme washed cotton trench which had a multi-panel effect.

Stripes were also a dominant trend in the collection, which gave some of the looks a beachy St. Tropez feel that spilled over into the menswear looks, which included layered shirts, tanks, sleeveless jackets, and hooded vests.

Azrouel always presents great outerwear pieces, and though he went in a more geometric direction than he did last year, a number of the outwear looks appeared to be continuations of the cocoon coats he showed for Fall/Winter 2009.
