Marchesa Spring 2014: Victorian-Style Curiosity

Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig may have reined in their signature volume and sculptural silhouettes in favor of more elongated and drapey silhouettes, but their lineup of dresses and gowns were no less dazzling. Romantic in feel, the designers were inspired by, according to the Associated Press, a Victorian-style curiosity case, which explains the pearl, floral, petal and butterfly accents that pervaded the collection. The Victorian inspiration also translated into an abundance of lace, making for a slew of lingerie-like takes on cocktail dresses and for cropped ruffled hemmed embroidered pants.

Among the looks stylists will surely be clamoring for were a floor length slightly sheer off-white lace gown with light pleating and a knicker-revealing sheer skirt paired with a structured floral embellished top.
