Richard Chai Sticks to His Roots for Fall 2014 (Runway Review)

The Scene: New York designer Richard Chai always packs in a cool crowd, but this season also had a few (random) celebrities in the mix including Joe Jonas, Zachary Quinto and Bryan Greenberg.

The Inspiration: Menswear for women with a little bit of hipster/grunge (think a beanie worn with a button down and a plaid robe).

The Look: Plaids, leather separates, fitted suiting, turtlenecks, dark hues, knee length skirts/dresses, oversized separates, layered looks and sequin embellishments for evening made for a straightforward show that stayed true to the designer’s menswear for women signature aesthetic.

The Accessories: Flat and low-heeled black buckled booties and black triangle-shaped low-heeled mules.

The Beauty: Velvety jade eyes, neutral lips, clean skin and slightly disheveled hair with very little volume and side swept bangs.

The Takeaway: It wasn’t the most exciting collection – especially given a somewhat drab color palette – but if you have the budget to forgo Zara-like retailers for your everyday basics there will surely be a number of items to pick from here.
