Zac Posen Mesmerizes with High-Impact Gowns for Fall 2014 (Runway Review)

The Scene: Moved from Lincoln Center to the designer’s showroom to create an intimate vibe.

The Inspiration: “Sculptural elegance,” according to the designer.

The Look: Tweed skirt suits, a day dress with a cropped cape and streamlined cocktail dresses. As for the designer’s statement gowns, they came with minimal surface embellishments, relying instead on silhouettes for their breathtakingly regal effect. Some gowns boasted full skirts and off-the-shoulder sculpted tops, while others had long sleeves and capes. Even more dresses still came finished with fishtail bottoms or draped with inlaid knots. The monochrome looks ranged from black to bright orange.

The Accessories: Pointed pumps.

The Beauty: Statement lips and glamazon hair.

The Takeaway: A luxurious and ultra-sophisticated lineup of dresses for those looking to command a room’s attention — it’s hard to imagine that at least one of these pieces won’t end up being worn by an A-lister at the Oscars.
