Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2014 Was Inspired by Power Rangers (Runway Review)

The Scene: Delphine Arnault (daughter of Bernard Arnault), Alexa Chung, Sofia Coppola and Marc Jacobs were all seated front row (the label is now helmed by Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley).

The Inspiration: Power Rangers/Japanese sportswear.

The Look: Colorblocked button-down blouses, emblazoned tops, lots of layering, wide pants, printed denim, tartan prints, roomy monochrome outerwear, a slew of looks with oversized bows crossing the models’ chests and many of the looks were cinched with wide obi belts.

The Accessories: Colorful sneakers, snow boots, a ninja-like bandana covering one of the model’s mouth, printed structured crossbody bags and plasticised bags.

The Beauty: Makeup was meant to look like “the morning after,” which entailed lots of goopy mascara, while hair was slicked back into two pigtail braids.

The Takeaway: With two new designers at the helm, it looks like exciting things are to come for Marc Jacobs’ diffusion line.
