Milan Fashion Week Fall 2014 Hits and Misses: Part 2 (Forum Buzz)

THE MISSES:

Versace

“What a mediocre collection. It’s like Versace by Douglas Hannant. I hate the color palette – everything is so drab and uninspired.” [StoneSkipper]

“I think this is pretty dated. But, hey, it’s not as tacky as usual. That’s a half-win.” [Moofins]

“Rather dull and I wished it was trashier; this is Versace, after all. Seemed a half-hearted effort.” [tangerine]

Jil Sander

“How incredibly depressing. Such drab shades and the loose fits just disfigure the girls. There are some great coats, but they weren’t enough.” [VogueDisciple93]

“I hope they find their new head designer soon, this is lacking in soul.” [HeatherAnne]

“I didn’t like the dismal-as-dirty-dishwater color palette. This was a really dumpy, depressing collection for me.” [LiuDat]

Dolce & Gabbana

“It’s come to a point where it’s annoyingly off-trend and just plain uninteresting. The Sicilian inspiration has been done to death and beyond, and now I just don’t care for their shows anymore. How many times are we gonna see that calflenghth black lace dress again? Pfff…” [Mr-Dale]

“I don’t like this at all, but I’m just happy they finally did something different! Even if it is heavily influenced by the latest Valentino collections.” [valliaddict]

“Oh I can’t with them anymore. It’s been bad enough that they’ve beaten the same tiny facet of their Italian heritage into the ground by overusing it as inspiration for years, but now their collection looks alarmingly like Valentino – the faux-naif animal appliques are probably the most egregiously ‘inspired’ pieces – and feels nothing like Dolce & Gabbana. I’m not sure when exactly they lost their minds but like any true partners they clearly did so together.” [Spike413]
