Giorgio Armani Infuses Classic Looks with Splashes of Lime for Fall 2014 (Runway Review)

The Scene: In keeping with the sporty crowd that attended his Emporio Armani show, Milan footballer Kaká and Swiss tennis player Stanislas Wawrinka were among those seated front row at Armani’s show.

The Inspiration: “Fade to Grey.”

The Look: Little surprise given the show’s title, “Fade to Grey,” the collection was done in a mix of gray and black with pops of lime green. It was a classic Armani lineup filled with seasonless column dresses, slightly slouchy, above-the-ankle wide trousers, classic suits, silk jumpsuits and collarless coats. There were more fashion-forward pieces in the mix as well — cue the lime green — like shaggy furs, sporty pants, single button jackets and a series of evening dresses, the best of which had a graphic black and lime design.

The Accessories: Structured top handle doctor bags, rectangular clutches in black, lime green or with a variety of surface embellishments, slouchy hobos in a variety of fabrics and textures, lace-up booties, two-toned sandals and pointed flats.

The Beauty: A soft eye and lip along with crunchy, curled hair.

The Takeaway: A classic Armani collection with just the right amount of edge thanks to the season’s flashes of lime green.
