Paris Fashion Week Fall 2014 Hits and Misses: Part 2 (Forum Buzz)

THE MISSES:

Sonia Rykiel

“I really miss Sonia. She was one of the last bastions of the old French style. Da Conceicao‘s work has nothing of her spirit of fun and insouciance. It looks so heavy… The last few dresses have a little of that cut into them though, but it looks like it was done with effort.” [Melisande]

“It is too serious and grown up. Sonia had a sparkle that made you tickle.” [Petit Lucille]

“There’s no fun in Rykiel anymore.” [StoneSkipper]

Christian Dior

“I feel like this collection was literally just designed with celebrities in mind – very commercial, mostly safe, extremely dull.” [HeatherAnne]

“The thing is, I don’t think I’ll remember those clothes by the end of the season (seeing how close we are to the end, that’s saying quite something). Lots of beautifully tailored pieces, of course, and there’s a few pops of color that grabbed my attention, but that’s it. It doesn’t feel desirable or attractive.” [StoneSkipper]

“There’s no denying that there are some beautiful and extremely well executed pieces throughout the collection. However, today I finally realized that I am very bothered by the color palette used in every Dior collection since [Raf Simons] took over the house and the horrendous styling that is being pushed over and over again.” [dodencebt]

John Galliano

“Let this be a lesson to the kiddies… don’t sell your namesake to the first highest bidder, otherwise you too could be faced with a pathetic situation like this.” [Scott]

“He’s not even trying anymore with the house’s DNA, is he?” [StoneSkipper]

“Will someone please put this brand out of its misery and shut it down?” [mistress_f]
