THE MISSES:

Christian Dior

“It’s not an ugly collection, but it’s really an off one. It’s not something I’d put for Couture. Although, this is better than some of his RTW shows, but not by a mile. Every collection he makes, especially for Couture, just makes me miss the Galliano days even more. Heck, Raf makes Bill Gaytten look like a genius.” [MON]

“All I can see is Céline, Louis Vuitton by Nicolas Ghesquière, a bit of Prada and some of his own designs at Jil Sander, some of the looks are nice enough, but I was hoping for more. Raf articulates the concepts and ideas behind his collections brilliantly, yet still he hasn’t managed to define what his Christian Dior actually is.” [jescajade]

“Most of those coats look like they were borrowed from an Acne Studios runway. The embroidery was beautiful, the set was great and the casting seemed right, but something is off. Like Raf does not know where he wants to take Dior and how to make the Dior woman exceptional. She should have a very distinctive look (come on, it’s Dior!) but right now she looks like she wants to wear LV or Chloe but is stuck to one brand and can’t break free.” [TheItGirl]

Fendi

“Even outside the whole fur morality debacle, this feels incredibly pointless. I wish they would spend the time and effort into developing new and exciting fabrics and techniques than with something like this.” [Marc10]

“So damn ugly. You can do elegant, modern and desirable things with fur, but I cannot say that about this collection. The un-wearability of these makes it look really waste and excessive in a bad way, as some people have noted.” [rip_ian curtis]

“He [Karl Lagerfeld] should be brought to court for this collection, so ugly. It smells of fresh animal blood because it feels too excessive and without mercy (because they are true furs, aren’t they?). In name of money: too bad taste.” [CholoChic]

Atelier Versace

“It was so bad. It’s like Donatella took the worst things from the ’70s and made this disaster. Some pieces may have a potential, but it’s overshadowed by that styling. It’s as literal as the whole collection —come on, wreaths? These shoes? It’s like an Austin Powers movie all over again. As I said, the inspiration was taken too seriously and literally.” [perhydrol]

“This is kind of horrendous. It all looks sloppy, with the ‘fringe’ hanging out on every other side. The huge ruffled dresses are especially atrocious. Some of the last few dresses are pretty nice, but it’s pretty much the only thing worth salvaging.” [StoneSkipper]

“I like the fairy styling, the bell sleeves and the detailing was impressive on several of the looks, but this is a tacky mess and not in a good way. I don’t get it unless this is a marketing pitch to design the costumes for Beyonce’s next tour.” [agee]
