THE MISSES:

Hermes

“I can see where she’s not trying to stray far from what [Christophe] Lemaire did, but the embarrassing thing is that it reflects her lack of talent when compared to his. And of course that’s the [Phoebe] Philo resemblance too, to make it all the worse for her.” [HeatherAnne]

“Do they even need a runway show? Because at this point it’s too boring even for a lookbook. Really, she didn’t even try and design some basics. Doing basics is so hard, cause you need to draw people’s attention to your clothes – they can find similar pieces everywhere, so yours should be unique. She failed with it. I get that Hermes has a lot of money from perfumes and accessories, but it doesn’t mean that their RTW line should be as mediocre and tiring to watch as that.” [perhydrol]

“I must admit I am disappointed … Leather pieces are great, but the rest is not standing out at all. I love minimalism, but here something doesn’t work. I would have wanted to love this, but I cannot.” [Emmanuelle]

Chanel

“The styling destroyed what could have been a marvelous collection. Some of the best prints I’ve ever seen on a Chanel runway in a long time. Could someone burn those horrid shoes??!!!” [Lola701]

“Like every Chanel collection these past years, there’s some nice stuff, some ugly stuff, some REALLY ugly stuff… and that’s it. I really lost any excitement I’ve had with the brand, because you really know what you’re gonna get every single season. It’s just… there.” [Marc10]

“Another striking set to try to cover the fact that the clothes are as predictably boring and stuck as always. Now it is an airport…wake me up when they present at Coco’s brothel…” [jeanclaude]

Louis Vuitton

“So ugly. Those pants with unflattering crotch lines? Already sick of those logo sleeved coats. His sense of futurism was more desirable at Balenciaga.” [Jacque Marcel]

“I think there are one too many design elements in this for me to appreciate it. I like [Nicolas] Ghesquière’s cleaner side, so as a result this comes off as sloppy and contrived to me. Of course the accessories are great, as always, but the clothes could have told a straighter story.” [dodencebt]

“I will never deny Nicolas’ talent but I was never a huge fan of his last several collections at Balenciaga and frankly I’ve yet to be impressed with his Vuitton. And this collection makes me wonder if his best days are behind him.” [Mutterlein]
