LAKAYPAM AWARENESS AND FUNDRAISING PROJECT

Perhabs the most unnerving part of the tragedy is the now orphaned children who have lost everything – including their parents and all means for survivial. On February 12, Coco Rocha will be hosting a fundraiser at the Opera Gallery in New York City at 7 pm for LakayPAM in order to raise money for the orphans of Haiti. Rocha will be joined by 2010 Victoria Secret supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio, designer Narciso Rodriguez, and model Carolina Bittencourt.

Bittencourt founded LakayPAM (translation: my home) along with her husband, Haitian website developer Cedrick Roche, which is a non-profit dedicated to protecting children’s rights by helping meet their basic needs. The Haiti earthquake has severely damaged the organization’s school and orphanage, which has resulted in hundreds of children not having clean water, food, or adequate shelter. The orphanage is receiving new children at their doorstep every day and they need our help to secure the most basic necessities for them.

100% of all donations will go to rebuilding the school and caring for the orphans and LakayPAM has tax exemption status (501 c3). Among those that will be attending the high-profile event are Raquel Zimmerman, Valentina Zeliaeva, Natasha Poly, Hannah Holman, Ali Stephens, Chanel Iman, Robert Geller, and Richard Chai. The event will also include a silent auction with such items as a Sports Illustrated issue signed by models (the buyer will also meet the models and take a picture with them), and an autographed poster with personal message from Alessandra Ambrosio.
