DAVID KOMA LONDON F/W 2010

Despite a late start and a very disorganized show space, designer David Koma showed a stellar Fall collection at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout space for London Fashion Week.

Koma, who has quickly become a favorite of celebrities like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Cheryl Cole, only graduated from Central Saint Martins in the spring of 2009.  But he has already become one of the most celebrated new designers in London. Inspired by Italian futurism and graphic art, Koma paired smooth Napa leather with wool and extreme zipper embellishments, and showed a collection of graphic pieces that all worked with the central zig-zag theme.

This collection was much more commercial, and while the sharp metallic coils and sharp cutouts looked slightly dinosaur-esque, the bold use of shapes and juxtaposition of textures made it a cohesive success.
