Clare Waight Keller, Kaia Gerber and Pierpaolo Piccioli Win Big at This Year’s Fashion Awards

The British Fashion Council presented the winners at their much-awaited annual Fashion Awards last night. This year was especially significant since BFC partnered with Swarovski and the awarding ceremony returned to the iconic London venue at The Royal Albert Hall. The Fashion Awards doubles as a celebration of creativity and as a fundraiser for BFC’s charitable initiatives.

This year’s Fashion Awards had a lot of joyous unexpected moments, such as Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, making a surprise appearance to present an award to Claire Waight Keller of Givenchy for this year’s British Designer of the Year Womenswear. Then there was the winner of the British Designer of the Year Menswear that went to Craig Green, despite being considered a rising fashion designer and competing against the likes of Kim Jones of Dior Homme and Riccardo Tisci of Burberry. And 17-year-old supermodel progeny, Kaia Gerber, beat out the likes of Bella Hadid and Adwoa Aboah for Model of the Year.

Designer of the Year went to Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino. Piccioli shared his passionate speech on Instagram about never giving up one’s aspirations: “If I am reading this speech tonight, it means that dreams can take you in places you have never expected to be. I have learned to let go, emotions, feelings, thoughts, I have learned to go with the flow, because you can take my breath away, but you can’t take my dreams away…”

See the list of winner and nominees below who, like Piccioli, continue to show young fashion designers and creatives that hard work, dedication and the love for fashion and sustainability shall reach great heights. (Plus, check out our red carpet coverage here.)
