MIAMI INTERNATIONAL FASHION WEEK WRAP-UP

Miami International Fashion Week, the largest Latin American and international fashion event in the U.S., wrapped up its 12th annual event with the Miami Moda & Music Awards show hosted by Ileana Garcia and Orlando Leon. Special Guest Designer Silvia Tcherassi received the 1st annual Victoria Puig de Lange International Style Award and over 500 guests were entertained with a live performance by Marala.

Miami Fashion Week is still relatively low on most editors’ radar, but with the development of Design Miami and the recent addition of Limited Edition Experiences the internationally-focused series of events – founded in 1999 by Beth Sobol, President of Sobol Fashion Productions – has been gaining some steam.

The shows took place over three days at the Shops at Midtown in Miami’s Wynwood District, and in addition to the dozens of runway collections presented, an international competition in fashion, photography, and graphic arts was held which showcased the work of more than 58 international designers from 22 countries throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Lebanon, and Europe.

MIFW also presented MIFW Humanitarian Award co-hosted by Tiffany & Co. to Florida Marlins President David Samson, WPLG News Anchor Laurie Jennings, Miami Beach Entrepreneur Michael Capponi, Gallery Owner Gary Nader, Yolanda Berkowitz, Michelle Bernstein, Jessica Goldman-Srebnick, Ami Glottmann, Abigail Pollak, and Stephanie Sayfie-Aagaard.
