Cara Delevingne, Kate Moss and More Are Honoring Karl Lagerfeld With Their White Shirts

There were three key pieces to every Karl Lagerfeld outfit: a low ponytail, sunglasses and a sophisticated white shirt. “If you ask me what I’d most like to have invented in fashion, I’d say the white shirt. For me, the white shirt is the basis of everything. Everything else comes after,” Lagerfeld once proclaimed. So it makes sense that after celebrating the late designer at Karl For Ever, close friends and influential figures are planning yet another tribute to the designer and his iconic white shirts.

A Tribute to Karl: The White Shirt Project has some famous fashion industry insiders offering their own spin on those signature white shirts. Takashi Murakami, Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, Diane Kruger, Tommy Hilfiger, Alessandro Michele, Amber Valletta and Carine Roitfeld are reportedly up for the challenge. The shirts will be displayed at Lagerfeld’s headquarters during Paris Fashion Week in September. Each piece will be reproduced 77 times and sell for €777 since seven was the designer’s favorite number.

All proceeds will be donated to Sauver la Vie, a French medical research charity close to Lagerfeld’s heart.
