It’s officially summer. But you wouldn’t know it judging by the styling on the majority of the July 2021 covers. From black blazers to one elaborate coat, you’d think we were smack in the middle of fall.
The beauty is also off. There’s plenty of season-inappropriate makeup. We’re talking red lips and strong cat eyes. Although, there are a fair share of wet-hair looks.
On the positive side, there’s a decent amount of diversity. Alva Claire strikes a pose for ELLE U.K., Salma Hayek appears on InStyle and Indira Scott pops up on Vogue China. Plus, activist Malala Yousafzai is celebrated by British Vogue. We’re also thrilled to see Shakira finally land a Vogue cover.
See which July 2021 covers we loved and loathed below.

British Vogue
One of the most stunning covers of the month.

The makeup and the outfit aren’t exactly made for summer.

Love the cover and the fact that it’s Keira Knightley, but the styling is better suited to fall.
-
Vogue Australia
The shirt ruins what could have been a stellar cover.
-
Vogue Japan
Mica Argañaraz’s intense stare is a little scary.
-
ELLE UK
The styling is a bit off…

This cover screams fashion.

Not fans of the eye makeup and the fact that it ties into the masthead.
-

We love the composition of this shot.

Vogue Mexico
Shakira sizzles.
-
Vogue Spain
Feels more Architectural Digest than Vogue.

Harper's Bazaar Greece
Not very summery, but Martha Hunt is really selling it.

We’re actually digging the styling and Rose Byrne’s damp locks.

Vogue Czechoslovakia
Paris Hilton continuing her comeback.
-
Vogue Korea
Not the best way to mark 300 issues.
-
Vogue Singapore
From the pedestal to the coat, there’s way too much going on here.

Pure shock value.

Way too much text and don’t get us started on the fonts.
