Last month, a mere 24 hours after the Spring 2025 season of Milan Fashion Week wrapped up, Silvia Venturini Fendi announced her departure from Fendi as creative director. Naturally, such news sent the rumour mill into overdrive, and a guessing game of Silvia’s successor commenced over on theFashionSpot. Only one name felt like a natural fit as Fendi creative director: Maria Grazia Chiuri. True to speculation, the Italian designer has been announced as Fendi’s Chief Creative Officer, five months after Chiuri’s exit from Christian Dior. The appointment marks a return to Fendi for Chiuri, who began her career at the brand as an accessories designer (between 1989 and 1999), and is partially credited with creating the iconic Baguette bag with Silvia.
