What else but Milan Fashion Week would fashionistas bother to tweet about this week? We’ve rounded up reactions and opinions from Giovanna Battaglia, Nina Garcia, Jessica Stam, and other fashion insiders.

The week started off with some good news for fans of supermodel Coco Rocha. “SURPRISE SURPRISE! Heading to Milan on a last minute flight. Those who have been complaining that I took my 13th season OFF may now stop :-)” she tweeted. Followed shortly by: “Just opened #Armani! My exclusive show for #MFW.”
The carnival lights at Dolce & Gabbana were a huge crowd-pleaser, not to mention the runway looks. “Praise jesus! Stellar @dolcegabbana collection!! Quintessentially Italian, with all the colors, prints, and bling!” tweeted enthusiastic blogger Bryan Boy. British singer Paloma Faith agreed: “Wow the @dolcegabbana show was unbelievable. non credo! Era stupendo!” Translation: It was gorgeous. Teen Vogue contributor Eva Chen Bannister noted one of the designer’s muses. “inspiration backstage @dolcegabbana: a collage of the incomparable Sophia Loren,” she tweeted.
The transparent looks at Marni left an impression on Cathy Horyn. “Flat-looking tunics over sheer open Marni, in aqua, pink, flowers,” tweeted the New York Times fashion critic.
Stylista Giovanna Battaglia picked up on the minimalism in Milan, and had especially good things to say about Jil Sander. “Bella Donna. Elegance and sweet minimal at Jil Sander,” she tweeted. Wall Street Journal style columnist Christina Binkley echoed her thoughts. “Raf Simons gave us so many unexpected ideas to think about at Jil Sander, it’s hard to collect my thoughts to write about them,” she tweeted.
“Deep into fittings and it’s all about the rrrrruffles, the frrrrringes, the flowerrrrrs…. Grrrrrrrrrrr…..” tweeted Margherita Missoni, who was swamped pre-show.
Prada drew wows from the crowd, including Nina Garcia. “Can we talk about Prada?” tweeted the Project Runway maven. “I’m obsessed with Miuccia’s collection for spring.” Jessica Stam, for one, was willing to talk about the designer. “Prada is everything that matters today! Its Miuccia’s very own retro producing factory in here…” tweeted the model.
The tweeters at Women’s Wear Daily saw deep-running Italian roots in the beauty at the Versace show. “The big, bouncy hair and perfect complexions backstage at Versace evoked Venus, as immortalized by Botticelli.”
Africa, however, was the inspiration at Bottega Veneta, according to Ariel Foxman. “Gorgeous Africa inspired Bottega show,” tweeted the In Style editor.
