Fashion Trend: Menswear for Women

What is more fabulous, sexy, and intimidating than a woman looking absolutely gorgeous in a tailored, man’s suit?

Of course, cinched in all the right places, a woman’s curves know how to give a man’s suit that extra kick. YSL is notorious for launching the suit, along with stars such as Katherine Hepburn.

Although it never goes out of style, the trend seems to be stronger during time periods when a woman needs a little more aggression. A recession, unemployment, and severe weather changes are a lot to deal with, and a woman can’t be running around in a mini skirt. Check out designers’ runway interpretation of menswear on women, cut in all the right places.

A single button, black, pinstripe suit with slim cut trousers looks confident on the runway at Jil Sander (left).

Asymmetry and grey tones aren’t at all dreary at Helmut Lang (right).

Lots of layers and wool at Chloe show off this men’s suit with cuffed trousers and a matching overcoat (left).

The Italians get menswear for women right with an androgynous haircut, double breasted tuxedo overcoat, and sexy, thigh high boots at Bottega Veneta (right).

At Balmain, a bootcut, pinstripe trouser, sexy blouse and matching pinstripe jacket with gold buttons will keep this fashionable woman on the move (left). Edgy and creative, the fashion hipsters’ favorite designer Alexander Wang knows how to layer and merge the feminine and masculine together with style (right).

Whether pinstripe, Italian wools, or via men’s tailoring a woman could die for, next season, the suit is taking priority in a woman’s closet.
