My affinity for nOir Jewelry can be best be summarized by something owner/designer Leeora Catalan told me the first time I met her. When I asked Catalan about her design process, she remarked: “When I think of a design I think first, ‘am I going to wear it?’ and then I think ‘which of my eclectic mix of friends would wear it?’ And then I make it bigger.” This is a woman who isn’t afraid to go big and bold, and that’s exactly why some of the world’s most powerful and fashion-forward women continuously wear her jewelry.
From Sarah Jessica Parker and Madonna, to Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Katy Perry, and Fergie, nOir has amassed an incredible celebrity following, especially for a costume jewelry line. Countless women collect nOir and with so many beautiful pieces constantly in the pipeline, keeping up is no easy feat.
For the Fall 2011 shows, the brand once again collaborated with Gwen Stefani for the jewelery featured in her L.A.M.B. collection, as well as with The Blonds for their bold baubles.
In keeping with the exuberant brand’s trademark style, nOir’s expansive New York City office space is bursting with color and vibrancy. All of the brand’s employees are decked out in beautiful pieces from current and past collections as they work on creating an endless array of new jewelry, which they’re more than excited to show off and discuss. That said, keeping up with everything Catalan and her team are juggling is near impossible. Aside from their own collection of signature animal cocktail rings and pyramid studs, their work with fashion designers and stylists, nOir teams up with countless brands, most recently DC Comics, for special, limited edition collaborations.
Two incredibly exciting collections are in the works and slated for an April launch, and while I can’t reveal them yet, trust that if you liked their DC Comics line, you’ll want to start saving now because the collections are going to blow you away. Luckily, not everything is top secret and I can share images of the studded leather series, stacked slender rings, and the new cocktail rings (including a turban-like knot!), that will be launching in April. Slated for a May launch is nOir’s return to handbags with a gorgeous selection of clutch-size fur bags. Though prices on the bags are still being worked out, I was excited to learn that they will be very affordable, especially given the real fur materials used to create them (think Zara price point for the handbags).
