Bridal Gowns Bring Sexy Back

Cennamo, an Italian-Venezuelan designer best known for his red carpet gowns seen on the likes of Angelina Jolie, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, and Jennifer Lopez, among others, is debuting his first-ever bridal collection for Fall 2012. The piece de resistance: His Destination Gown ($5400), an ivory laced chiffon draped confection with an embellished bodice and strategically placed buttons trailing down the back. Dresses range from $3000-$6000.

Claire Pettibone
Pettibone, meanwhile, brings her vintage romantic aesthetic to the 1920s. Blue and ivory lace detail, sheer backs, and scalloped silk dresses abound in her Fall line, Windsor Rose China, which was inspired by her grandmother. “I love things that have a modern twist to it with a little sex appeal,” she says. “My bride is bohemian. She’s getting married on the beach, in a barn, on the farm, anywhere you can bring a certain charm to really.” Not only does the supremely talented Pettibone design wedding dresses, but she has a knack for whipping up ethereal looking veils and lingerie, too. Dresses range from $2000-$6500.

Amanda Garrett
And last but certainly not least, is Sydney-based designer Amanda Garrett. A designer who doesn’t sell in the U.S. just yet (rumor has it that Lovely Bride in NYC might pick up her collection), Garrett describes her bridal line as slightly more goddess than bride. "It has been said before that with my dresses, the sex is in the seams and the bride looks casually seductive without trying too hard,” she says. Fans of designers Jenny Packham and Alice Temperley will find it hard to find fault with Garrett’s understated gowns with careful detail like crystal embellishments just above the small of the back and seductive straps that look so effortless they can almost slip off at any given second. Dresses range from $1800-$4700. A one-stop shop, she also has an array of sophisticated day-to-night pieces that can be worn to the rehearsal dinner or honeymoon.
