Street Style Chronicles: Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring 2013

Summing up the street style of Copenhagen Fahsion Week in three words isn’t too much of a challenge: flat comfortable shoes. A few seasons ago, hardly anyone would be seen dead in anything but their Camilla Skovgaard sky-high saw wedges, their Surface to Air buckle wedges, or their Acne platforms. This summer, though, it was all about the flats: brogues, loafers, Chelsea boots, and Chucks, but if there was one shoe that could be described as the it-shoe, it was Nike Free Runs in every model and color imaginable.

Copenhagen has never been a girly or elegant city (there’s a reason the Sartorialist never comes to Copenhagen) but this time masculine and streetwear inspiration had taken over the city completely. Tailored trousers with fun details such as drop crotches, Stine Goya-style silky pants with oversized pockets, or disproportional pleats were everywhere. Collars also played a big role and were worn with chunky sweaters or jersey pullovers as if to make sure the look never got too neat or ladylike.
