BILLABONG DESIGN FOR HUMANITY BENEFITS CHARITY:WATER

A bevy of beautiful babes, skinny rockers and cute surfers crowded the red carpet outside the Avalon/Bardot on Wednesday, June 17th for Billabong’s annual fiesta of fashion, art, and music.

It was all soooo Hollywood, but not in the bad way.  At least not entirely.  All proceeds were for Charity: Water, a non-profit that brings clean water to developing nations.  So for the cost of one $30 ticket to the event, someone far far away can have safe drinking water for 30 years.  Kind of hot  right?  Until you see the bikinis, and that’s a whole other conversation.

A mélange of mismatched prints and sexy designs debuted on the runway.

Celeb designers model Tori Praver, Juno actress Olivia Thirlby and Katie White of The Ting Ting collaboration debuted one-of-a-kind bikinis to be featured in Billabong’s Cruise 2010 Collection.

Wear your heart on your sleeve much?  How about your tush?

Praver’s signature design, a hanky tie bandeau paired with boy bottoms will generate $5 a sale for Charity: Water through Billabong’s Design for Humanity initiative.

The sweet sounds of pop artists Iglu & Hartly warmed the crowd up for alt-rockers The Airborne Toxic Event.  Guests also mingled upstairs to the tunings of DJ’s The Misshapes, while perusing the art exhibit and silent auction of works by Wolfgang Block, Steven Harrington, and Barry McGee, among others.

Pro Surfers like Dane Reynolds, Dane Ward and Keala Kennelly made a splash in the scene too.

Summer is here, and thanks to Billabong, the water is clean, and the waves are waiting.
