Summer Trend: Burberry Prorsum-Inspired Metallic Handbags

As soon as we caught sight of the hot-hued metallics heavily featured on the Burberry Prorsum Spring 2013 catwalks in the form of vivid purples and shocking pinks, we knew exactly what’d be one of the biggest trends this summer.

We’ve already seen a plethora of metallic outfits gracing both the streets and the celebrity trend sections of our favourite glossies, and one of the trendiest ways to wear metallics this summer has to be in accessory form, especially handbags. Burberry is, of course, fuelling this trend with its metallic studded cross over bags (below left) but luckily for us, so are most of our favourite fashion retailers too. If you really want to steal Burberry’s look but on a shoestring, then your first port of call has to be ASOS, as they currently have the Liquorish studded chain shoulder bag for just £38. It’s the closest to the real version that you’ll find without venturing down that yucky counterfeit route!

We all know that sometimes bright metallics can look a bit tacky, so, if you want to rock the trend a little more demurely, play it safe with silver and golden tones. Accessorize’s silver Gem etched shopper, £29 is the perfect size for doing just that (shopping!), whilst New Look currently has several on-trend metallic numbers suitable for all occasions. For instance, its gorgeous bronze Envelope Clutch, £15.99 would make for the perfect daytime accessory, whilst its gold Fringed clutch, £12.99 is a must for hitting those clubs.
