My Perfect Holiday Look: Charity Gala

As the years go by, I find myself discovering the joy in giving rather than receiving, and find it especially rewarding and fulfilling during the festive season. Whether it’s seeing the faces of my loved ones light up at the thought of perfectly packaged presents waiting for them under the tree or extending a helping hand to those in need at my charity’s annual Christmas gala, the true definition of holiday spirit and the act of spreading holiday cheer starts with a selfless act of kindness and generosity.

This year, while I’m making my holiday rounds and touring the party circuit, I’ll also be marking off my social calendar to attend a festive fundraiser in celebration of a good cause. However, dressing for a grand gala is dramatically different and can seem much more intimidating than your informal stretchy family-function food-eating pants or your megawatt mini reserved for New Year’s Eve. For me, the perfect celebratory ensemble starts with a head-turning, statement-making frock. This year, I’ll be making my grand gala entrance in this racy red brocade dress from H&M, paired with platform pumps from Charlotte Olympia. A miniature minaudière that leaves just enough room to house my phone and lipstick may be small in stature, but it packs a stylish punch.

Since formal affairs always bring thoughts of updos to mind, I’ll be styling my hair ultra-sleek and super-straight with the help of this CHI Magenta Shimmer Flat Iron from Ulta and securing it in a trendy low pony that’s equal parts playful and elegant. To add the final finishing touch to my total holiday look, exquisite earrings like these striking chandelier ones from Allen Schwartz are all I need to step out in style — and feel good about it too!
