Forget Platforms: The Case for Sleek Pointed Pumps Now and Always

Kate Moss and Tom Jones Leave Claridges HotelPlatform soles, whether they be on a boot, a shootie or a stiletto, are going the way of fashion fads we leave behind for more stylish fare. But here's the kicker (pun intended): they're not wallowing away in the dark corner of our closets in favor of some new trend, they're being supplanted by a classic. Like the ballet flat Audrey Hepburn made famous, the pointed toe, platform-free pump is having a resurgence that's sure to make it a timeless standby.

We thank Kate Moss for sporting what the Brits call a "court shoe" as of late, making us covet the sexy that only sleek pumps can provide. So we went ahead and rounded up the latest and greatest shoes on the market. And we didn't stop at the five-inch heel, since it's really all about the toe and the sole. From mid to kitten, we've included quite a variety and we'd be remiss not to mention the fabulous uppers from suede and leather to mesh and printed textiles.
