The New Pretty: Spring’s Pumped Up Pastel Trend

Candy-colored, sugary-sweet sorbet shades were pumped up and pretty at the spring shows for a look that’s not quite neon, not quite pastel. Offering a psychedelic splash of color in Easter egg-inspired dyes, this season’s palette is on a little bit of a trip with icy baby blues, spearmint, Parma-violet and yolk yellow. While Prabal Gurung spearheaded the trend with acid brights and amped up pastels for colors that pulsed with a fluorescent, futuristic feel, the look across the runway was lit up and saturated from DKNY to Oscar de la Renta. Although not as brash as neon, thoughts of highlighter hues come to mind as spring’s pale color palette takes it up a notch.
