These Stylish and Warm Puffers Will See You Through Winter

There’s really no reason to walk around looking like a penguin decked out in a floor-length puffer coat by The North Face. Whether you’re heading to the ski slopes or just stuck in the cold for the next, oh, four to five months, there are so many aesthetically superior puffer options that will keep you looking cool and feeling toasty.

While you can always count on the convenience of neutral-toned outerwear, especially when it has a flattering cut, these days puffers also work in mainstream trends like velvet and plaid. They come in cropped versions, poncho cuts and even sport pearl embellishments, all in a range of price points. Even Kate Middleton and Kendall Jenner love them.

“Puffers are always in fashion because they’re lightweight yet warm,” Think Royln co-founders Pattie Friedman and Kristin Wielenga point out. “This season they are more playful and versatile. The poncho specifically is a styling tool item that can be worn eight months a year depending how you layer it.”

And standard solid black puffers look boring next to fashion’s newest offerings. “Prints are huge: florals, camo, plaid, animal and snake,” said the duo. “Popular apparel trends are now seen in outerwear and people do not just own one coat anymore, but have built out an outerwear wardrobe. Metallics are also huge both as an all-over color and in the details, such as lining.”

With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the standout styles to get cozy in this winter.
