We frankly didn’t know what to expect when it came to New York Fashion Week street style this season. Thanks to the pandemic, we knew the “week” would be shorter than usual. And we knew everything from runway shows to lookbooks to videos would be presented. But we weren’t sure if street style would find a way to prosper in the current climate.
While there weren’t as many sartorial statements as previous seasons, there was still a lot to admire. First, the mask game was pretty strong. The street style set took the necessary precautions, but did so in style. We spotted masks that matched outfits, ones boasting animal prints as well as plaid patterns, logo-clad versions and even decorative mask chains. But masks weren’t the only accessory that caught our attention. The footwear was also fire. Buckled pumps, cool kicks, platforms and quilted boots have us looking forward to fall.
The dress code was relaxed for Spring 2021 with many opting for more laid-back looks. (Perhaps due to the fact that all of us have increased our loungewear wardrobes exponentially over the last several months.)
