Christian Dior’s Eyewear Campaign Appears to Forecast the Future (Forum Buzz)

Raf Simons hasn’t even officially exited 30 Avenue Montaigne yet and we’re already seeing subtle changes to Christian Dior’s advertising concept. The brand’s eyewear campaign for Fall 2015 was shot by the provocative and the sometimes controversial photographic duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Out is minimalist lensman Willy Vanderperre, in favor of a more alluring and colorful image with Texan beauty Vanessa Moody.

Unfortunately, the majority of our forum members were left bored by the outcome. “They are already making a transition after the recent news. I don’t know if the choice of photographer is an indication of the future creative direction, but M&M for Dior is so weird. Even more so, with such a boring result,” discredited Lola701 straight away.

“Boring and lifeless. I’m so glad that Raf is out!,” hailed narcyza with forum member Nomar echoing, “Boring and safe.”

Everyone else, however, liked the stark shot. “Ow, Mert & Marcus do Dior? I’m on board,” shared an interested Street a Licious.

Mepps certainly was a fan of the image, defending, “What do people expect from an eyewear ad? An attractive person wearing a pair of shades is never gonna be that interesting. This ad is perfectly fine, for its purpose.”

“I’m just happy to see a model. Even though Vanessa doesn’t really excite me, great for her, I guess,” congratulated simon.

“I think it’s a gorgeous image. The colors really speak to me and Vanessa has great lips,” pointed out as equally as content anlabe32.
