Versace Yellow Diamond Launch

Last night, Versace opened the doors to its flagship U.S. boutique’s sixth floor VIP area to host a private event for the launch of its latest fragrance, Yellow Diamond. The event marked the first time the floor, where Gianni Versace himself dressed the likes of Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell, was opened for an event and it was as luxe as you’d imagine. Lush arrangement of orchids adorned the tables, furniture was meticulously laid out at just the right angle, Medusa pillows abounded, there was a mosaic floor, and intricately detailed moldings covered the walls. The piece de resistance, however, was a spacious outdoor patio space where, in true European style, smoking is permitted. Once guests finished ogling the beautiful surroundings, nibbling on small bites prepared by Pinch (if anyone is looking for a fantastic caterer…), and sipping champagne, we were given a sneak peek at the new citrus fragrance.

Inspired by a yellow diamond that Gianni gave to his sister Donatella, the Yellow Diamond box is the first to feature the Italian house’s iconic medusa design. The scent’s notes include citron, pear sorbet, bergamot, orange blossom, mimosa, and amber woods so you can expect a distinctly citrus scent at first (the orange blossom comes through especially strong), but the fragrance softens with the dry down.

The bottle itself pays homage to the yellow diamond via a faceted yellow topper and Abbey Lee Kershaw stars in the fragrance’s accompanying ad campaign, which was shot by Mario Testino.
