Tips and Tricks for Flawless Skin: Make It Last

Start with a primer. I know we’ve been waxing poetic about the genius of primers for years now but they really are the best way to ensure even, long-lasting makeup. Similarly, eyeshadow primers and base products not only help prevent fading, but also protect against oily eyelids and running shadow. If you’re looking for a highly pigmented look, such as a bold smoky or metallic eye, applying a cream shadow to the lid underneath a powder shadow can ensure extra long-lasting color. This will also increase the depth of color and vibrancy of the look.

When looking for everlasting lipsticks, many women think matte formulas are their only option, but don’t discount the gloss just yet, it is absolutely possible to get a shiny lipstick that is pigmented enough to last all night without the dull finish. The key to long-lasting lipstick is in the application. Applying with a lip brush is the most accurate method of application but don’t think that means you need a harsh line. After you apply your first coat of lipstick, blot and apply a second coat. Then run your finger lightly along the outer edge of your lip. This will soften the line around your lips and if, heaven forbid, your lipstick does start to fade, you won’t be left with the 80s lip liner look no matter how many drinks you’ve been sipping. Lastly, a makeup setting spray, whether designer or homemade, will not only help ensure a lasting look, but also protect your skin against external factors such as temperature or humidity.
