Backstage at NYFW: Raver Girl Beauty at Marc by Marc Jacobs

Part of the Marc by Marc Jacobs collection was inspired by the English rave scene in the 80s. To capture the look, Diane Kendal used Marc Jacobs Beauty to recreate the youthfulness of that time. “The makeup was just about evening out the skin tone with a light coverage foundation and a little bit of the Twinkle Pop Eye Stick in Honey Bunny ($28) over the lids,” she explained. Brows were brushed, not filled, and lips were kept natural with the use of Lovemarc Lip Gel in Moody Margot ($30).

The hair, created by Guido Palau, was a total show-stopper. “The hair has these Björk-inspired knots — it’s a little bit punk and rave, but still young and cute with an innocence to it,” he said. Palau divided hair into four sections and used Redken Wind Blown 05 to give hair texture in order to keep knots in place. The pro also left small tufts to take the punkiness up a notch, and then sprayed the hairline with Evian mist ($12) for a “slightly sweaty feel, so you think they might have been in a nightclub.” We’re totally ready to rage.
