Heat-Proof Makeup Tutorial

STEP 1 – Prime your skin

Longevity is key when it comes to warm weather makeup. There’s simply no way you can get away with slathering on your go-to foundation and hoping it will still be there by day’s end. Enter Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer ($10.97), a featherweight primer that gives skin a flawless look on contact. Not only does it leave skin soft, it also minimizes the appearance of fine lines and evens the skin’s tone. Since it leaves your skin so smooth, it creates the perfect canvas for your foundation and helps makeup stay put.

STEP 2 – Apply foundation

Summer is a great time to get acquainted with an oil-free foundation. The new COVERGIRL Ready, Set, Gorgeous Oil-Free Foundation ($6.94) is poised to be your complexion’s BFF this season: It banishes shine and keeps oiliness to a minimum, all while leaving skin virtually immaculate. Despite its light texture, you won’t worry about redness, acne scars or other imperfections with this functional formula in your warm-weather arsenal. It’s similar to a tinted moisturizer, with a bit of additional coverage.

STEP 3 – The eyes have it

If longevity is the goal, the Revlon ColorStay Eyeshadow Quad ($5.97) is the perfect choice. Available in an array of colors, this powder shadow feels smooth, soft and applies like a dream. With coordinated colors that pair beautifully with one another, the palette offers an array of looks that go from day to night. The Precocious quad looks deceptively dramatic at first glance, but it’s far more than a night-out companion. Use the lighter shade to highlight the lid and make eyes pop during the day and accent with a pop of soft rose; come evening, tap on the deep eggplant and charcoal to craft the ultimate smoky eye that will stand up to the heat. Don’t forget the mascara! A coat of L’Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara ($6.97) adds some drama without succumbing to humidity.

STEP 4 – A pop of color for your pout

Summer is also the best time to experiment with vibrant colors that you might not normally use. A coat of Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm ($6.48) in Striking instantly brightens up your face, especially when your eyes are neutral and your skin is luminous. The eye-popping shade stands out with its coral-red finish – it’s essentially a dream summer hue. And since orange was a major player on the spring/summer runways, you’re really working a hot trend into your look, too.

STEP 5 – Finish with a slick of lipstick

Don’t be fooled by the name. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick ($4.97-$5.94) in Ravish Me Red is an eye-popping color, but it isn’t a full-on red; this is a very wearable, versatile coral-red that practically screams summer vacation. Slick it on over the Matte Balm to make your lip color last and last.

Voila: A long-lasting look that won’t let you down on even the steamiest days that find you (gulp!) sweating up a storm. Sure, your skin may be a bit sticky, you may find yourself downing bottle after bottle of water – but your makeup? It won’t budge. Success!
