Move Over Contouring: Color Correcting Is the New Makeup Craze

The Kardashian clan helped usher in the contouring trend, making it a global phenomenon. We’re just starting to perfect our technique and already a new makeup craze is popping up: color correcting. It functions like contouring in that you draw on your face like an elementary school chalkboard. But rather than just focusing on light or dark areas, color correcting balances out the skin tone using opposite hues on the color wheel.

Orange counters dark under eye spots, green covers redness, yellow balances out any purple bruises and the list goes on. Foundation is applied after for a flawless finish. It’s a complicated method, to be sure, but the results are stunning.

The great thing is, you don’t have to do a full face of color correcting to get in on the craze. A dab of green to cover a red spot or yellow to conceal a zit will do the trick. The technique gained speed when YouTuber vloggers TianaCosmetics and Nicol Concilio created a game-changing video with Nyx Color Correcting Concealer.

Here’s a picture collage of the #colorcorrectingclash collab I did with @nicolconcilio !! both used the @nyxcosmetics colour correcting kit! The purple is to correct any weird yellows on my skin, green is for any redness or blemishes I may have, yellow and the salmon pink are for any dark circles, darkness or any acne scaring. DISCLAMER: this video was for fun and just a fun way to teach you about colour correcting. The amount used is not for every day colour correcting unless you do have any extreme discolouration on you face. A little can go a long way for colour correcting 🙂 SHOW US your CRAZY colour correcting using the hashtag #colorcorrectingclash !! PS I have a mini makeup tutorial on this look a few posts back (my inspired Barbie makeup tutorial) as well as the FULL tutorial on my YouTube channel! Hope you are all having a lovely day! #tianacosmetics
