Versace 'Flash21' 2020 : Imaan Hammam & Adut Akech by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

Adut Akech and Imaan Hammam Strike Several Poses for Versace’s Flash 2021 Campaign

Due to the pandemic, Versace wasn’t able to produce a mainline campaign for the Fall 2020 collection. But the brand’s compensating by dropping a mid-season campaign entitled Flash 2021 as we head into a brand new year. Versace ads always bring the glitz and glamour, whether it’s Steven Meisel shooting supermodels past and present or Jennifer Lopez stealing the spotlight from Kendall Jenner. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott are back as campaign photographers capturing Adut Akech and Imaan Hammam (both styled by Jacob K) in the studio posing up a storm.

Although, the images fell flat for our forum members. “What are these poses? Embarrassing,” declared avonlea002.

“Some weird positions going on here. It’s all I can see,” said WAVES.

“Strong cast, questionable image selection,” commented zoom.

In the same frame of mind was Summer Day: “With this cast, these pictures should never have seen the light of day. Versace continues to sink its own ship.”

Ghesquiere32 was also underwhelmed. “This is trash.”

“This type of image is not one that is suited for photographers like Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin have proven themselves to be the masters of this concept. As for the post-production, I would classify it as a mess,” proclaimed GivenchyHomme.

“The composition of the images takes me back to Max Mara’s Fall 2019 advertising campaign by Steven Meisel, but I’m not complaining. We have Versace, we have two fabulous models, we’ve got Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and have bigger things going on in the world right now. I like it!” added vogue28.
