David Sims Definitely Delivers the Goods With Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2021 Campaign

Since Nicolas Ghesquière took over the helm of Louis Vuitton back in 2013, we’ve had advertising campaigns photographed by everyone from Bruce Weber to Steven Meisel to Collier Schorr to Patrick Demarchelier. During the height of the pandemic, even Ghesquière tried his hand at photography capturing the legendary French fashion house’s ads for Fall 2020, Cruise 2021 and Spring 2021. Now for Fall 2021, Ghesquière enlists the expertise of photographer David Sims who whisks us to a pebble stone beach in Normandy, France. Mona Tougaard, Ida Heiner, Maria Cosima, Evie Saunders, Clémentine Balcaen, Jade Nguyen and Kris DeGirolamo come together and parade under stormy skies before Sims’ lens.

The campaign took our forum members by complete surprise. “Whew, thank heavens they changed it up, better than the last couple of campaigns!” appreciated GERGIN.

“This is a definite improvement from what has been going on with Louis Vuitton,” heralded reese06.

“Finally! Now we are talking Nicolas!” Lola701 chimed in.

“About 5 million times better than anything Vuitton has produced within the past five years,” declared dontbeadrag.

“A vast, VAST improvement from those mainline advertising campaigns photographed by Nicolas Ghesquière, which we unfortunately had to endure for multiple seasons in a row,” voiced vogue28.

“This looks rather fantastic! I adore the location and the clothes work so well with this kind of background,” noted [Piece Of Me].

GivenchyHomme was also very much an admirer: “This is the best campaign of his tenure. There is a strong and distinct point of view. It’s edgy and fashion-forward. The images are confident and polished. It makes me feel excited for fashion again.”
