TREND: EDWARDIAN INSPIRATION

MOdern fashion has been touched by a little bit of history… Sculptured shoulders, cinched waists and exceptional tailoring, showed an Edwardian inspiration in many of the couture designs on the runways. The luxuriousness and sleek elegance of the era were displayed, with the intentional beading, lace and sultry fabrics used in the collections. Some designers mixed masculine elements such as tuxedo jackets and tailored pant suits, for a slight twist to the once traditional time period.

Christian Lacroix shows off lavish lace and feminine 18th century inspired suits on the couture runways.

Armani Prive rises to new heights with exaggerated shoulders, tailored jacket and sculptured skirt.

Gorgeous embellishments, breathtaking fabrics and womanly silhouettes were prominent among Christian Dior’s amazing creations.

Givenchy goes subtle with color, and loud with design, in a nude couture piece with pleated shoulders.

Outlined  shoulders, extravagant silk detail and lace were cutout in modern lines at John Paul Gaultier.
